The Annapolis Area Christian School's boys lacrosse team jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first quarter and rolled past Pallotti, 9-4, at St. Paul's School in Baltimore to clinch the third seed in the MIAA B Conference playoffs.
AACS had just played Pallotti on Tuesday and finished the game on a strong run.
"We knew that if we got up on them we could keep the momentum going," said AACS coach Dick Bitzer. "Once we were up on them we felt pretty good."
James Baden scored five goals and dished out an assist for the Eagles, and Matt Soldano netted two goals and had two assists.
The Eagles will play at second-seeded John Carroll at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
ANNAPOLIS 12, STEPHEN DECATUR 11 (OT): Senior attackman Nate Poerstel swept across the front of the goal from the wing and shot the ball high to the off-stick shoulder and into the back of the net with 2:53 left in overtime to propel the Panthers into the next round of the 3A East Region.
Poerstel and senior Brian Gehrdes each tallied hat tricks, and Gehrdes added two assists.
In what was a close game throughout, Annapolis built a three-goal lead in the third quarter. However, the Seahawks tied it up by the end of the quarter, and the teams played to a stalemate until Poerstel's heroics.
