As the school year quickly winds down, there are an array of events planned at Meade Middle School, 1103 26th St. on Fort George G. Meade, to mark its conclusion.
Meade Middle School's eighth-grade class will hold a farewell and awards ceremony at 1 p.m. June 6 at the Meade High School auditorium.
Parents and guests are asked to park at the middle school and walk to the high school. Handicapped parking will be available at the high school. Guests will not be able to enter the high school before 12:45 p.m.
Students are asked to report to the middle school by 8 a.m. that day as usual to check in and prepare for the ceremony. There will be no bus transportation after the ceremony. Students must ride home with a designated adult listed on their emergency notification cards.
Students are required to dress appropriately; no jeans, T-shirts or sneakers.
There will be an eighth-grade farewell dance at the middle school from 7 to 10 p.m. June 5.
The school also will host two spring concerts. The chorus will perform at 7 p.m. June 3 and the band will play at 7 p.m. June 4. Both concerts will be in the school's cafetorium.
The school's final fundraising event for the year will take place May 21 as the students collect money for the Save the Children fund by walking from 2:45 to 5 p.m. on the school's track. The rain date is May 22. The event is closed to the public; however, the public can help with donations. For details, call the school office at 410-674-2655.
Delmont Improvement
The Delmont Improvement Association will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Delmont United Methodist Church, 1219 Delmont Road in Severn.
All are welcome to attend. The group will discuss concerns and issues affecting the community as well as receive an update on the historical marker to commemorate the centennial of the Washington Baltimore and Annapolis Railroad.

Vendors needed
The Women's Ministry of New Life Fellowship Church seeks flea market vendors and crafters for its flea market, which will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 7. The rain date is June 28.
Vendor spaces are available for $20.
The event will also include homemade baked goods, grilled foods, and beverages.

Yard sale
St. Lawrence Martyr Catholic Church's yard sale will be held from 7:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church, located at the intersection of Routes 175 and 295 in Jessup.
Enjoy a morning of yard sale shopping in one location. Items for sale will include toys, books, clothes and household items and many more.

Kids for Christ
Severn Christian Church will sponsor the program "Kids for Christ" at the Brooklyn Home Community Center, 4140 10th St. in Baltimore, from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday.
Children ages 5 through 12 are invited to participate in the activities, which will include puppets, games, lessons, snacks and prizes.

St. Bernadette news
St. Bernadette Catholic Church will be busy this spring with a number of events.
The 300 Club will sponsor a gourmet buffet on June 8 to celebrate the 23rd anniversary of its fundraising efforts. The club has supported many important parish programs over the years.
The buffet will include aroasted chicken dinner and unlimited beverages.
Tickets may be purchased after all Masses.
The date of July 23 has been set for the St. Bernadette and Our Lady of the Fields golf outing at Compass Pointe Golf Course. More details will be announced later.
An informational meeting about the confirmation program will take place at 7 p.m. tonight in the parish hall.
The Reclaim breakfast for all gay and lesbian people at St. Bernadette's and their friends will take place on Sunday. Anyone interested in attending should meet near the fireplace after the 9 a.m. Mass for directions to a local restaurant.
All married or engaged couples are invited to join Dr. Phil Robison, author of "30 Days to an Extraordinary Marriage," as he presents simple, empirically-supported practices designed to deepen relationships. His program is schedule from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on May 21. There is no cost.
The St. Bernadette Knights of Columbus pancake breakfast will be held after the 9 and 10:45 a.m. Masses on May 25. The cost is $5 for adults, $3 for children or $15 for a family.
Artists young and old can submit their work to the office for the next parishioner art show. The art will be displayed from May 23 until June 30. Art should be framed and ready to hang with either wire or secure brackets. Children's art can be submitted as is and will be hung on clip hangers.
Prayer meetings
St. Mark United Methodist Church, 1440 Dorsey Road, Hanover, holds weekly prayer meetings from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. every Tuesday and invites everyone to attend. The group will sing and share testimonies.

Strawberry festival
Severn United Methodist Church will host its annual strawberry festival from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 7 at the church, 1215 Old Camp Meade Road.
There will be local and regional crafts, food, live music, a car show, carnival games, a moon bounce for kids and, of course, lots of strawberries. Vendor space is still available for $20, or $25 with a table. Car show registration is $15. Parking and admission to the event is free.
