Anthon Allred Sr.
Retired Army Lt. Col. Anthon Venioy "Toney" Allred Sr., 84, of Annapolis, and formerly of Severna Park for 37 years, died of complications from Parkinson's disease June 26 at Heritage Harbour Health and Rehabilitation Center after a long illness.
Lt. Col. Allred was born April 9, 1924, in Orangeville, Utah, graduated from the University of Utah and studied at Towson State University and the Chicago Institute of Fine Arts.
He served in the Marine Corps during World War II, then was recalled to serve as an infantry officer with the Army at the Army Language School in Monterey, Calif.; was an ROTC instructor at Knox College, and at 1st Army Headquarters on Fort Geroge G. Meade, and in Germany and Korea. He retired in 1967. His decorations included the United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Army Commendation Medal and National Defense Service Medal.
He also worked as a supervisory education specialist at Fort Meade for 17 years.
He was a member of the Pascal and O'Malley senior centers; several military associations and the Anne Arundel County Parkinson's Support Group.
He was a craftsman who created paintings, stained-glass pieces, woodcarvings and pottery. He also enjoyed gardening and cards.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Aaron Dean Allred.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Schwalier Allred; one son, Tony Allred of Pasadena; two daughters, Nancy Allred-Davis of Pasadena and Heidi Reilley of Woodstown, N.J.; one brother, William Russell Allred of Sandy, Utah; one sister, Louise Shurtliff of Mt. Pleasant, Mich.; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. July 29 at Arlington National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Kalas Funeral Homes.

Richard Betzel
Richard Henry Betzel, 50, a lifelong resident of Pasadena and a Bally Total Fitness engineer for 15 years, died of cancer June 25 at the University of Maryland Medical Center after a six-month illness.
Mr. Betzel was born Oct. 27, 1957, in Baltimore, to Lois Betzel of Dundalk and the late James Henrey Betzel.
He served in the Air Force.
Mr. Betzel enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and being outdoors with his dog.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Lisa Betzel; two sons, Jacob and John Betzel of Pasadena; three brothers, Leslie Betzel of Pennsylvania and Curtis and Dennis Betzel of Baltimore; and one sister, Ginney Henson of Baltimore.

Jimmy Box
Jimmy D. Box, 74, a 42-year resident of Severn and a Westinghouse employee for over 32 years, died June 25 at his home after a brief illness.
Mr. Box was born June 7, 1934, in St. Louis. He graduated in 1956 from Clemson University with a bachelor's degree in engineering.
He served in the Navy from 1956 to 1960.
A sports fan, he especially enjoyed the Orioles and Ravens. He also enjoyed golfing, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Lorraine K. Box.
Survivors include one son, Matthew J. Box of Phoenix; two daughters, Helen B. Farnen of Woodstock and Leslie D. Gefre of Severn; one sister; Patricia Heaton of Richmond, Va.; and six grandchildren.

Walter Ergott Sr.
Walter L. Ergott Sr., 80, a longtime resident of Glen Burnie and a retired truck driver for BWI Corp., for died of natural causes June 26 at his home.
Mr. Ergott was born Oct. 23, 1927, in White Pine, Pa., to the late Walter W. and Ruby Miller Ergott.
He served in the Navy.
He retired from BWI Corp. in 1989 after 13 years of service.
Mr. Ergott enjoyed fishing, hunting, bluegrass music, flea markets and cooking.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian E. Wisman Ergott; and one sister, Sara Johnson.
Survivors include two sons, Walter L. Ergott Jr. and Todd T. Ergott of South Carolina; three daughters, Reva Maloy of Glen Burnie, Ruby Smith of Severn, and Debra Gonzalez of Laurel; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Elfido Garrido
Elfido Amilcar Garrido, 56, a five-year resident of Pasadena and a maintenance worker for the Adopt A Highway program, died of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident June 24.
Mr. Garrido was born Oct. 21, 1951, in Guatemala, to Catalina Garrido of Florida and the late Benjamin Lisandro Garrido.
He was a member of the Living Word to the Nations Church.
Mr. Garrido enjoyed playing the guitar, running and reading.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Mayra L. Garrido; one son, Amilkar Felipe Garrido of Pasadena; two daughters, Stephanie Dennise and Mayra Alejandra Garrido of Pasadena; two brothers, Victor Garrido of Laurel and Sergio Garrido of Guatemala City, Guatemala; and three sisters, Irma Giron, Hayde Olson and Edith Chacon, all of Winterhaven, Fla.

Benton Giles
Benton T. Giles, 91, of Linthicum and a 25-year employee of the Lichtenburg Co., died of pneumonia June 23 at Harbor Hospital after a five-day illness.
Mr. Giles was born Aug. 22, 1916, in Linthicum.
He was a bulldozer operator for the Lichtenburg Co.
Mr. Giles enjoyed working on cars.
Survivors include one daughter, Edith Giles of Virginia; one brother, Walter Giles of Florida; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held yesterday at Ambrose Funeral Home. Interment is in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Franklin Glas
Franklin John Glas, 67, of Frederick, raised in Glen Burnie and a Navy veteran, died of heart disease June 24 at Neiswanger Management Services Healthcare in Hagerstown.
Mr. Glas was born July 1, 1940, Baltimore, to the late John J. and Margaret V. Glas. He attended Glen Burnie High School. He moved to Frederick 17 years ago.
He was a construction superintendent.
Considered by those who knew him to be the "world's best sports fan," he avidly followed the Maryland Terps and Notre Dame.
Survivors include two sons, Christopher P. and Daniel E. Glas of Frederick; two daughters, Rebecca A. and Theresa L. Glas of Frederick; one brother, John J. Glas of Glen Burnie; and one grandson.

Valerie Gwinnutt
Valerie "Val" Gwinnutt, 54, a 32-year resident of Glen Burnie and a school bus driver, died suddenly June 20 at Harbor Hospital.
Mrs. Gwinnutt was born Feb. 28, 1954, in Maryland, the daughter of Nancy Jenkins of Florida and the late Thomas Jenkins.
She worked for North County Bus Company for six years, and received the perfect attendance award.
Mrs. Gwinnutt was a member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church.
She enjoyed swimming, decorating for the holidays and going to yard sales and flea markets.
Survivors include her husband of 30 years, James M. Gwinnutt ; two sons, Stephen and Jonathan Gwinnutt of Brooklyn; one daughter, Suzanne Gwinnutt of Annapolis; one sister, Holly Houseworth of Florida; and two grandchildren.

Andrew Habermacher
Retired Navy Reserve Cmdr. Andrew Lee Habermacher, 93, a resident of Severna Park since 2006 and a World War II veteran, died of natural causes June 23 at his home.
Mr. Habermacher was born Nov. 24, 1914, in Cleburne, Texas. He lived in Abington, Pa., for 50 years before moving to Severna Park.
He served for 20 years in the Navy as an officer, and 10 years as a civil service administrator. He entered the Navy Reserves on active duty in 1942 as a lieutenant and served on the carrier USS Thetis Bay in the Pacific Theatre during World War II.
Mr. Habermacher attended the Abington Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Masons.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Amy Grace Habermacher; and one son, Michael E. Habermacher.
Survivors include one son, Andrew L. Habermacher Jr. of Crofton; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services are private. An interment will take place at Abington Presbyterian Church in Pennsylvania at a later date. Arrangements are by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home.
Audrey Hayden
Audrey M. Hayden, 80, a 38-year resident of Pasadena and a member of Lake Shore Baptist Church, died June 26 at her home.
Mrs. Hayden was born Sept. 4, 1927, in Glen Burnie, to the late Sidney and Elsie Gidding. She lived in Glen Burnie before moving to Pasadena.
In the 1960s, she was a beautician who ran a business from her Glen Burnie home.
Mrs. Hayden participated in the prayer chain at Lake Shore Baptist Church.
She enjoyed watching soap operas and reading.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Edna Thomas; and two grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Roland W. Hayden; one son, David R. Hill of Florida; and two daughters, Patricia A. Hayden and Leona J. Konig of Pasadena.

Robert Martin
Retired Navy Chief Petty Officer Robert Joseph Martin, 87, a 48-year resident of Glen Burnie and an electronics inspector for 23 years at Westinghouse Co., died June 25 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.
Chief Martin was born May 19, 1921, in Bernardston, Mass., to the late Ora R. and Grace Martin. He graduated from Powers Institute.
He joined the Navy in 1939 where he served as a Navy ROTC instructor at Cornell and Yale universities and retired in 1960. His career included being present at the meeting of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill on the HMS Prince of Wales in 1941, participating in the invasions of Iwo Jima and Okinawa and operating the then-secret, first-generation MARK I computer aboard the USS Shannon.
He retired from Westinghouse in 1983.
He was a member of the General Society of Mayflower Descendents, the Maryland Mayflower Society, the Anne Arundel County Genealogical Society, the Moose, the American Legion and the Fleet Reserve.
Chief Martin enjoyed genealogy, radio-controlled model airplanes and caring for his dogs.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Mildred Martin; two brothers, Harry and Leslie Martin; and two sisters, Marianne Brazeau and Lillian Dalton.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Broderick of Glen Burnie and Marilyn Keen of Pasadena; and five grandchildren.

Margaret McClain, 96, an 82-year resident of Brooklyn Park and formerly a clerk for the State of Maryland, died of a stroke June 23 at St. Agnes Hospital after a two-week illness.
Ms. McClain was born May 28, 1912, in New York.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Jessie Lowman.
Survivors include one son, Louis McClain of Brooklyn Park; five grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday at Gonce Funeral Service. Interment is in Holy Cross Cemetery.
John McCool
John Shepard McCool, 90, of Pasadena and an FBI special agent, died of natural causes June 20 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Mr. McCool was born March 22, 1918, in Bronx, N.Y., to the late Raymond and Hazel McCool. He earned a bachelor's degree and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa., and earned a law degree from Fordham University. He was admitted to the New York State Bar. He lived in Arnold before moving to Pasadena.
Mr. McCool retired from the FBI and joined the New York City Airport Security Council after his retirement. He later worked for Duke Power Co. in Charlotte, N.C.
He was a member of the choir and a deacon at Christ Our Anchor Presbyterian Church in Arnold, and served as treasurer of My Brother's Pantry and a board member of the Dorado Hills Community Association in Arnold. He also hosted several foreign exchange students and chaperones.
Mr. McCool enjoyed photography, languages, travel and family.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Emilie J. McCool; and his second wife, Dessa McCool.
Survivors include one son, Lloyd McCool of Astoria, N.Y.; one daughter, Margaret Lidz of Pasadena; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A family gathering will be held in New York City and interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx. Arrangements are by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home.

William Thomas Sr.
William Howard Thomas Sr., 86, a 58-year resident of Glen Burnie and a World War II veteran, died of Parkinson's disease June 21 Glen Burnie Health and Rehabilitation.
Mr. Thomas was born April, 8, 1922, in Cambridge.
He served in the Navy with the Mighty Mine Dodgers submariner class and achieved the rank of petty officer first class.
For 42 years, he was an engineer for Baltimore Gas and Electric Co.
Mr. Thomas enjoyed tinkering with electronics and sailing.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Jean B. Thomas; one brother, Clarence Thomas; and one sister, Anna Clauss.
Survivors include one son, William H. Thomas Jr. of Glen Burnie; and one grandchild.

Robert Watts
Robert Edward "Bob" Watts, 48, a lifelong resident of Glen Burnie and founder of the Glen Burnie Gaming Association, died of liver cancer June 25 at his home.
Mr. Watts was born Nov. 19, 1959, in Baltimore. He graduated from Glen Burnie High School in 1977, then attended both Anne Arundel Community College and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
He worked in asset management at the National Archives in Rockville.
Mr. Watts also was a board member of Historical Miniatures, a member of the Gaming Society - East and the Glen Burnie Masonic Lodge.
He enjoyed history, miniature war gaming, table top games and computer gaming.
Survivors include his wife of eight years, Sheila Mazzatenta; three sons, Killian Watts of Glen Burnie, Phillip Peterson of North Carolina and James Gage of New Mexico; four daughters, Diana Peterson of Virginia, Christina Peterson of North Carolina, Kerri Gage of Texas and Candice Gage of Glen Burnie; two brothers, Tommy Scaggs of Georgia and Jimmy Hunton of Glen Burnie; two sisters, Sonja Deal of Glen Burnie and Donna Miller of West Virginia; and 4 grandchildren.

Mr. White enjoyed fishing and horse racing.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Mary Margaret White.

Margo Williams
Margo Delores Williams, 70, a resident of Baltimore who was raised in Glen Burnie, died June 23 at St. Agnes Hospital after a brief illness.
Ms. Williams was born March 3, 1938, in Maryland, to Ruth Cook of Glen Burnie and the late Fredrick Cook. She attended Baltimore City Schools.
She worked for many years for a book bindery company.
Ms. Williams enjoyed word puzzle books, playing slot machines and collecting salt and pepper shakers.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Delroy Cook; and one sister, Shirley Cornish.
Survivors include one son, Darnel Williams of Severn; three brothers, Donald Bessicks of Severn, Larry Bessicks of Columbia and Carl Brown of Baltimore; five sisters, Jacquelyn Marshall of Atlanta, Gloria Bessicks of Severn, Deborah Dailey of Glen Burnie, Vlasta McCoy of Randallstown, Sharlene Savage of Woodlawn and Sharon Dennis of Millersville; and two grandchildren.

Casimer Wisomierski
Casimer Joseph "Cas" Wisomierski, 84, a lifelong resident of the Baltimore area and a World War II veteran, died of natural causes June 22 at Charlotte Hall Veterans Home.
Mr. Wisomierski was born Nov. 2, 1923, in Baltimore. He formerly lived in Brooklyn.
He served in the Army with the Glider Infantry in the Pacific Theatre and was decorated with the Bronze Star.
Mr. Wisomierski was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Brooklyn.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leon and Joseph Wisomierski; and one sister, Mary Margaret Lambert.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Basso Wisomierski; one son, Casimer J. Wisomierski Jr. of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; three daughters, Regina Bemis of Lewes, Del., Linda Wisomierski of Glen Burnie and Joanne Curci of Pasadena; one sister, Helen Butler of Hanover; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
