Chesapeake Bay Middle School recently announced its eighth-grade recipients for the President's Education Award Program.
Sponsored by the Department of Education, the program honors students graduating from elementary, middle and high school. Those meeting specific academic criteria set by both the department and each school's administration receive recognition from President George W. Bush and the secretary of education.

Landings program
Our Lady of the Chesapeake, 8325 Ventnor Road, is offering private sessions for its Landings program.
The program is a way for Catholics who have been away from their faith to reconnect to the Church in a relaxed atmosphere. Sessions are private and one-on-one.

VBS for Aug. 4 to 8
Several area churches recently announced their vacation Bible school programs scheduled for Aug. 4 through 8.
Lake Shore Baptist Church, 4613 Mountain Road, invites children in kindergarten through fifth-grade to its "Outrigger Island - Living God's Unshakable Truth" vacation Bible school. The program runs from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and is free. Registrations are being accepted; walk-ins will be welcome.

Get ready for a rainforest adventure at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 8615 Fort Smallwood Road, during its "A Tree Top Bible Blast" program from 9 a.m. to noon.
