Guest column: Legislator: Give small business a break

Just over two years ago, angered and frustrated by the attitude and actions of the Maryland General Assembly toward small business, I declared my candidacy for state delegate.

Seventy-four percent of Maryland residents were employed by small business but only 5 percent of state legislators had any small-business experience. I saw a lack of representation not only for small-business owners, but also for the majority of state residents who depend on those businesses for their own livelihoods.

I am grateful that my message resonated with the voters of Anne Arundel County. Unfortunately that very same message has yet to resonate...
