Gilman shuts down McNeill, St. Mary's

Gilman's defensive players came into the game with one objective: Stop Mark McNeill. They did, and it worked.

McNeill, the St. Mary's All-County receiver, had one catch for minus-6 yards, and Darius Jennings rushed for two touchdowns to lift Gilman to a 28-0 win last night.

"We were trying to get Mark the ball," Saints coach Brad Best said. "They doubled him hard. We tried early to get the ball to him, but we weren't able to."

St. Mary's had to rely on its running game, while inexperienced quarterbacks Ryan Hart and Trey Quinn couldn't get a rhythm through the air.
