The St. John Christian Day School has had to close down after 50 years due to the financial burden of rising maintenance and staffing costs, according to a message on its Web site.

Perfectly timed for back-to-school purposes, St. John Lutheran Church, 226 Washburn Ave., will hold an indoor flea market of assorted school items from 8 to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Teachers, homeschoolers, parents and others can enjoy browse two floors filled with school items, including children's literature, games, puzzles, textbooks, workbooks and teacher resource materials.
